He was a French ébéniste of the late 19th/ early 20th century and is considered by many as one of the most celebrated furniture makers of the Belle Époque. His greatest source of inspiration was the ancienne régime of Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, which were revived in the designs. An association was developed with the sculptor Léon Messagé, which resulted in extravagant pieces while compli- menting the latest fashion of Paris. Linke’s success came to fruition when he was awarded the Medaille d’Or for his Grand Bureau at the 1900 Paris Exposi- tion Universelle. This attracted international acclaim and was celebrated by exhibiting at global shows at- tracting distant markets. € 4,000 - 6,000
