29 The Library Collection | 26 th April 2022 www.adams.ie 22 A FRENCH BURR WALNUT AND BRASS BOUND GENTLEMAN’S VANITY CASE, c.1809 - 1819,* the rectangular casket with brass corner mounts and recessed han- dles, the top centred with a shield shaped crest reserve, filled with a full complement of silver mounted and other accessories, with date marks for 1809 - 1819, and maker’s mark of ‘P D’ including a detach- able shaving mirror with bevelled edge and leather back tooled in gilt, with crest of French Royal Arms, with the order of St Louis, and repeated again to back plate, also including various other accessories of ivory and silver mounted razor blades, scissors, ruler, toothbrush, eye bath, glass ointment bottles, funnels, hanging rack, glove hook and corkscrew etc., in original protective leather travelling case **Please note that this lot contains ivory and is subject to CITES regu- lations when exporting outside of the EU.
