Sir C.H. Firth, President, Chas M Foottit, A.W. Shean and H.W. Nicholson, Vice Presidents Jack, the owner of this collar, was almost certainly a Dalmatian. Dalmations are a special breed of dog and have been the unofficail mascot for firefighters for centuries. They are believed to have stood alongside firefighters going back as early as the 1700s. Before Fire Engines were invented, fire - fighters and their equipment were carried by horse and carriage and Dalmations acted as ‘stable or carriage guards’ clearing the way for the carriage and protecting what was in it. € 800 - 1,200 133 A RARE IRISH 18TH CENTURY SILVER BOW CORK- SCREW, stamped SINGLETON, probably Richard Singleton of Dublin, bearing a later engraving ‘Drink and Drive Care a Way” and a second engraving on the inside “Maurice Lepp Warren …… Hugh Reilly ….”, 17 cm long. € 500 - 800
