48 A PAIR OF AUBERGINE AND YELLOW GLAZED BISCUIT PORCELAIN BEAKER VASES OF ARCHAISTIC GU SHAPE CHINA, QING DYNASTY, POSSIBLY KANGXI PERIOD It rests on a base imitating a stand with ruyi scrolls, enameled in egg yellow tones. The body, in three parts, is either carved or molded with archaistic patterns such as stylized cicadas and taotie masks. It is all covered in aubergine enamels. The base is left unglazed. H: 26 cm Note: This vase reveals the taste for antique bronzes and archaic shapes during the Qing Dynasty. For example, Emperor Qian- long had amassed enormous ancient bronzes, which decorated halls and became a scenery in the Qing palaces like his other precious collections and sustained research effort - spanned sixty years during the Qianlong reign - resulted in three catalogues of imperial bronze collection. €1,500 - €3,000 A LARGE A PARCEL RETICULATED MOUNTAIN SHAPED BISCUIT PORCELAIN VOTIVE ALTAR OR SHRINE CHINA, QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD Carved and modeled in the form of a pierced rockwork grotto, the central niche with the figure of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, seated in rajalalisana on a rocky base and holding a child as well flanked by two attendants. Next to her are a bird, a lingzhi fungus and a celestial pavilion. The is enameled in turquoise and aubergine purple glazes. Offered at auction with an old matching wooden stand adorned with lingzhi fungus. The base of the stand bears the remains of an old antique dealer label.
