68 105 A PARCEL GILT COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF A LAMA OR MONK, POSSIBLY TSONGKHAPA TIBETO CHINESE The figure is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his hands in dhar- machakramudra, with lotus stems rising at both shoulders. He is clad in heavy robes with incised hems and his head is topped with a cap. H: 13,2 cm Weight: 410,4 grams Note: Tsongkhapa (1357-1419) is a revered Tibetan religious philosopher, and a central figure of the Gelugpa sect that ruled Tibet until the middle of the 20th century. He wears a hat and his hands are in abhaya mudra. The attendant is depicted standing on his two feet, his hands joined in añjali mudrā. He wears loose robes with floating ribbons. It is very finely detailed with engravings, e.g. for the brocades of the loose robes. It is affixed to a lately replaced metal stand.
