200 448 A KO-IMARI ‘KIRIN’ PORCELAIN FOLIATE RIM DISH JAPAN, EDO PERIOD The foliate shape is said to imitate a chrysanthemum flower. The dish is finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue combined with gilt, red and green, with a kirin or unicorn and a banana tree. The base is inscribed in cobalt blue with an apocryphal six-character mark in kaishu of Emperor Chenghua within a circle. D: 21,5 cm € 600 - 800 449 A POSSIBLY KAKIEMON PORCELAIN EWER OF CALABASH / DOUBLE GOURD SHAPE POSSIBLY JAPAN, EDO, 18TH CENTURY It is finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue and red enamels with ladies and boys and blossoming trees. The base bears two old collector labels, one is saying ‘Japon XVIIIe’ (lit. ‘Japan 18th century’), the other one is inscribed with #82.
