The outer part is carved with different patterns, the emphasis being on the wawe one. We may also mention the swastikas and the stylised cicadas. It is lacquered with different designs, mostly flowers and ladies, against an auspicious red ground. It has base metal fittings, whilst the three (3) drawers handles or grasps are three (3) jade ‘chi dragons’ belt buckles.
