Adam's Fine Asian Art Preview 23 November 2021

Duval BA MA HEAD OF ASIAN ART thibault@adams.ie For our first time particpating in Asian Art in London, we are thrilled to present a selection of items from our upcoming specialty sale which will take place in Dublin on Tuesday 23 rd November. Our auction will include over 400 pieces, divided into four defining categories: Arts of China and Himalaya, Arts of Vietnam and South-East Asia, Asian Painters and Arts of Japan and Korea. Amongst the Chinese items, the lots consigned include a remarkable jade finial attributed to Jin / Yuan Dynasty, a rare jade carving of a heavenly horse, also referred to as Tianma, a vast collection of jades from a French private collection, a large selection of porcelain pieces and a monumental terracotta sculpture of Guan- di, the God of War, which was a gift from Emperor Joseph I (1830-1916) of Austria to his mistress, Katharina Schratt (1853-1940). An important “khánh xuân thị tả” porcelain plate beautifully demonstrates the arts of Vietnam and a portrait of a young lady with a scarf by Vu Cao Dam highlights our Asian painting section. The Japanese lots boast an extensive collection of over 150 woodblock prints, in- cluding a few nice triptychs and a rare work by Takeshi Kitano.
