42 A PAIR OF ‘DRAGON’ LIME GREEN PORCELAIN PLATES CHINA, QING DYNASTY, GUANGXU MARK AND OF THE PERIOD Both identically adorned to the center with an incised de- cor of two five-claw dragons flying amidst clouds in pur- suance of the flaming pearl below a desirable lime green glaze, the reverse of the wing also with an incised dec- oration, that one depicting flying cranes amidst clouds, the belows inscribed in cobalt blue and in kaishu with a six-character mark of Emperor Guangxu. Also included is a third identical plate. A MIRROR PAIR OF TURQUOISE GROUND DAYAZHAI ‘MAGPIE AND WISTERIA’ FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN VASES CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Painted to the exterior in famille rose enamels on a turquoise ground with a magpie perched on a wis- teria vine overlapping a rose branch rising from the foot. The shoulders has a three-character inscrip- tion in iron-red “dayazhai” ( 大雅齋) followed by an oval seal with the six-character mark “tian di yi jia chun” that may be translated as “Spring throughout heaven and earth”. The belows inscribed in iron red with the mark “Yongqing Changchun” ( 永慶長春) . H: 27,2 cm €3,000 - 6,000 NOTE: The mark Dayazhai (Studio of the Greater Odes) has been associated with the Dowager Empress Cixi. Although no such hall has been identified, a wooden framed plaque has been found in the Imperial workshops, bearing the characters Dayazhai and with one of two seals reading Tiandi Yijia Chun: see Guo Xingkuan and Wang Guangyao, Guanyang Yuci, Beijing, 2007, pp.145-147.
