www.adams.ie 37 370 +A SAMURAI SWORD OF KATANA TYPE ATTRIBUTED TO NOSHU G AMMAKU UJI NOBU 濃州岩捲氏信 Japan, Mino province, Dai Ei era corresponding to 1522 The attribution of the blade to this swordsmith has been given by Mr. Sato Kanzan / Kan’Ichi on sayagaki katana koto late Muromachi. This swordsmith has been ranked 40th by Hawley. 1. Description of the blade: - Nagasa (length of the blade from the munemachi to the tip of the kissaki): 71 cm - Moto haba (width of the blade at the habachi): 3 cm - Saki haba (width of the blade at the yokote): 1,8 cm - Moto kasane (thickness of the blade at the munemachi): 0,8 cm - Saki kasane (thickness of the blade at the yokote): 0,4 cm - Kissaki nagasa (length of the kissaki from the yokote to the tip): 4 cm - Boshi yakitsune with hakikake (brushed aspect of the boshi) - Architecture of the blade shinogi zukuri - Mune iori mune (the back of the blade made of equal tails) - Hamon notare midare (irregular wave) with tobiyaki (stain of the blade pattern in the ji) and yakidashi (nar- row descent of the hamon near the nakago) - Ji hada (blade grain) itame hada (looking like a wood board) - Kissaki chu gissaki nobi gokoro - Nakago funagata (shaped as boat hull) ubunakago - Nakago jiri of kiri type, suriagenakago three menuki anna 2. Description of the mount (koshirae): With a two-colour saya (roiro and aka, i.e. blanc and red). The tsuba and the fuchi kashira en suite with a horse pattern. The tsuba with a kogai hitsu and a kozuka hitsu filled and patinated shakudo. IT is worked in maru bori and in taka zogan with horse in shakudo and sakura in silver. The menuki are of flying wild geese design. A classical lace of the tsuka in the morohineri maki style. € 3,000 - 5,000
