Bettetini’, was a French jeweller and gem - mologist whose work reflected the refined yet quietly experimental spirit of the Côte d’Azur in the postwar decades. Trained in both tradi- tional goldsmithing and gemmology, Bettetini combined precise craftsmanship with an evi- dent fascination for the inner life of gemstones. Operating from his boutique and workshop at 27 rue Alphonse Karr in Nice, he became known not only for elegant jewellery but also for his passion for educating the public about gems. His short films, such as Au cœur des gemmes (“In the Heart of Gemstones”), shown in the 1970s by French scientific and cultural societies, captured the beauty and structure of precious stones with a poetic, almost cinematic sensibility. His dual interest in craftsmanship and the study of precious stones places him among the in - dependent jewellers who bridged artistic de - sign and gemmological insight in mid-century France.
