As they posed questions to each other, a deeper understand- ing emerged, revealing not only their individual brilliance but also the extraordinary synergy that arises when diverse talents converge. This rare dialogue offers invaluable insights into the passion, dedication, and creativity that fuel their endeavours, demonstrating how the fusion of different perspectives can give rise to something truly exceptional. Danielle, In a world of thousands of beautiful flowers, why roses? Roses have it all. They are available in almost any colour, bloom near- ly year-round, come in a multitude of shapes and sizes, have incredible fragrance, and historical significance. They are relatively simple to grow and are lovely both outdoors in the garden and indoors in arrangements. They are the subjects of poetry, song, and art, have symbolic importance in many cultures, and sadly, have even been fought over. To whom would you dedicate “a kiss from a rose”? I would dedicate it to my husband. We have shared many rose ‘stories’ and experiences throughout our relationship. Our most memorable moments seem to involve this magical flower. However, all rose ‘kisses’ should be dedicated to the almighty bee, without whom nature would not survive. Which is your greatest achievement in your rose garden? I was honoured in 2014 with the title of Great Rosarian of the World, an award shared by only a few other recipients internationally, including David Austin and Alain Meilland. I received the honour for my work developing our rose farm which has become a model for small boutique flower farming. My goal is and has always been to provide my audience with the knowledge of how to grow healthy roses successfully. When you give roses as a gift, how many do you typ- ically give, and which varieties do you prefer? I typically gift roses according to the occasion. Other than gifting a single perfect bloom, I never send fewer than 15 stems, most often 30 blossoms seem to be just right. The colour of roses has tradition- ally held great significance.Yellow for friendship, red for love and romance, white most often for new love, traditionally for weddings. Interestingly, white can also be significant for the celebration of a life. Pink roses are youthful, new babies, young birthdays. I gift gem hues and tones during the holidays, pastels, and neutrals for spring. And most importantly, I always gift fragrant roses. Finally, do you have any rose shaped jewellery? Collecting rose jewellery is an addiction. My favourite piece is a tiny gold rose gifted to me by the 7th generation French rose hybridizer, Jean Pierre Guillot.
