25 In 1969, Aldo Cipullo, an Italian designer for Cartier, designed the “Love Bracelet”. It is comprised of two separate pieces and requires a vermeil screwdriver to unlock the two screws which fastened the piece to the wearer’s wrist.The idea, which became incredibly popular, was for couples to lock the bracelets together as a sign of romantic commitment.The bracelet has been so adored that it is rumoured that hospitals in NewYork City still keep a vermeil screwdriver on site in case it is required.The “Love Bracelet” carries on today as one of Cartier’s most well-known designs. 18 19 20 22 23 21
