MCGEE (FL.1874-1896) Woman Tending Flowers at a Cottage Door Oil on canvas, 69 x 50.5cm (27 x 19¾”) Signed and dated in red ‘MAMcGee / 1889’, old typed label verso A largely unknown nineteenth-century artist, Mary A. McGee was a painter of landscape and gen- re scenes. McGee worked predominantly around Drumcondra and was a student of the Dublin School of Art (Royal Society). In 1871, early in her career, McGee exhibited a design for a fan-mount at the International Exhibition in London.
