Althought originally thought to be a work from Brittany this work is likely to be a view on the Sheepscott
River Maine. A number of O’Kelly characteristics may be discerned, most notably sinuous, almost stylised
dark shadows as they appear beneath the tree in the foreground and the use of pale blue to describe the hazy
distance.
