An album of near five hundred humorous sketches and caricatures, variously in pencil, ink and grey wash. 25.5 x 19cm and smaller Amidst the sketches are notable portraits of Robert Burns, Dr. Blacklock and Dr. Johnson. Grosse was a friend of Robert Burns and the latter composed several poems in his honour, including his most famous work ‘Tam O Shanter’.
